Media DTS BANNER

You’ve seen the news, the social media feeds, the conversations happening between friends and influencers of culture and politics about the current state of this world. But have you ever felt an urgency for your voice to be heard, wondering how you can utilise your creativity to influence the world around you and inspire change rather than just be another gong amongst the clanging cymbals? Do you aspire to be on the field, reporting not only what needs changing, but the good things God is doing in and through communities, for His glory? This DTS is for you if through your God-given creativity, you want to do more than raise awareness.

Get hands-on experience in the thriving ministry of Youth Street. Develop your skills in reaching Australian young people, mentor Christians from various walks and be amazed at how deeply you can connect with young locals in just 12 weeks.

Join us for a Media Discipleship Training School (DTS)!

This 6-month course is a full-time, unique, live/learn community experience. It consists of two parts: lecture phase and outreach phase. The lecture phase will offer you a time of deep revelation as well as liberating personal application. Encounter God like never before as you hear from seasoned speakers who live out the principles they teach. The outreach phase will take you to places you have only dreamed about as you take the Gospel into the nations! Grow in confidence as you share your testimony from small to large groups in cross-cultural settings.

Example core curriculum topics include:

  • Recognising God’s Voice
  • Character & Nature of God
  • Building and Maintaining Godly Relationships
  • Sharing your Faith
  • Missionary Lifestyle

As part of the Media Elective, you’ll join the Creative Theme. The Creative Theme in July joins the Music, Arts, Media and Barista electives in one DTS lecture phase. Each DTS will have a coordinator gathering students around that elective.  This may come in forms such as small group activities, excursions, events, or guest speakers.

While you’ll have specific times for your DTS elective, this will not occur every week. It is important to see electives as a point of gathering similar individuals without taking priority over the core purpose of the DTS. Additionally, we cannot guarantee that each DTS elective will have a major representation on the outreach phase. Our hope is to look for how we can incorporate the elective on outreach but factors outside our control such as culture, event coordination, and ministry contact preferences may affect what is possible.

An elective is defined by:

  • Gathering similar individuals.
  • A leader with an affinity or passion for that elective (but not required).
  • Low level, structured inclusion during lecture phase.
  • Outreach inclusion of the elective where culturally possible and appropriate.
Example Media sessions include:
  • Work alongside our skilled Communications & Media Team.
  • Using media tools to share the gospel in a fresh and relevant way.
  • Exercise God-given creativity to establish an effective media voice.

You will embark on a cross-cultural adventure of a lifetime! Be a part of using your passions to break through barriers of age, language, culture and religion. As a result, see doors open for the gospel to go into the nations.

The outreach phase is your opportunity to travel to a foreign culture, bringing the hope of Christ to the nations. The Great Commission to “go into all the world & make disciples” will be pumping through your veins as you jump into this cross-cultural journey to make God known.

Outreach will take you to the places you have only ever dreamed about! Grow in confidence as you share your testimony to large audiences. Whether you are called to long-term or short-term missions, the benefit of going to a cross-cultural location and seeing the needs of that location and then being part of the solution is life changing!

Each DTS sends teams to unique locations. Here are a few places we have gone:

Thailand, The Philippines, India, Japan, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Columbia, Fiji, Mexico, South Africa, Malaysia, Latvia, Spain, New Zealand & around Australia.
