I Learnt To Believe That God Really Is Faithful

By YWAM Newcastle on April 6, 2017 in Staff Blog

I’ve heard people talk about God’s faithfulness and I’ve read stories about His perfect timing, but it wasn’t until just recently that I really believed it.

Last year, God spoke to me about going to Italy to do a school with YWAM called Freesports & Youth Culture. I needed a lot of money in order to go to Italy, roughly between $8,000 – $10,000AUD. I had never needed that much money before, and as I went about fundraising, I had my own ideas of how it should look. I knew when I wanted the money and how I wanted to raise it. Long story short, God provided in His time. Not only did He provide in His time, but also in His own ways. I was given money from people that I didn’t expect, and if I’m being honest, I didn’t do a whole lot to get any money myself. I felt lazy at times, but in a way, I’m thankful because I cannot deny that it was God who provided.

I learnt that when it comes to God providing, it’s not a matter of when will He provide, but simply that He will.

Luke 11 says; “And so I tell you, keep on asking and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you”, (Luke 11:9). Jesus doesn’t tell the people when they will receive, He just says, “ask and you will receive, knock and the door will be opened, keep on seeking and you will find”.

In Proverbs 3:5 we read; “Trust in the Lord  with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding”. This is pretty straightforward, and I believe it applies to how we trust God for things. I didn’t know where the money would come from; I didn’t know when. I honestly had a hard time believing for it. But God was faithful and answered my prayers. When I felt most stretched, God would provide and remind me that He has got this. Other times, someone would simply shoot me a quick text affirming and encouraging me.

The Father isn’t just good, He is faithful. He is loving. He is generous. There are things on my heart that I’m believing for, and its been a while, but I have peace knowing that He will provide. It might take another year, but I know He will provide. Provision doesn’t only apply to physical things– it’s also emotional and spiritual needs and desires. Matthew 11:28 says; “Come to me all those who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest”. He will!

We can trust that the Lord will answer our prayers and provide for our needs and desires. I could write example after example of how God gave me strength to carry on, or a new perspective, or money, or even a new guitar or a skateboard. He is a generous and faithful Father who loves His children so deeply. He knows our needs, He knows our heart, and He will provide. He will get us through.

He is faithful and He will fight when we have no strength.
