Speaking Life in a High School – South Africa Outreach

By YWAM Newcastle on June 5, 2013 in Discipleship Training Schools, Outreach

It’s hard to believe that our time is South Africa has almost come to an end. It’s amazing how fast time goes by when you are having fun while serving the Lord!

This week our team had the opportunity to go into a local high school in Pretoria for ministry. We were given a 45 minute time slot during their break time to talk with the students. It was not mandatory for the students to come, so we weren’t sure how many would attend. About 75 students came to see what the “Americans” had to say. Our contact had told us previously that identity, self worth and relationships were the major struggles within this particular school so we wanted to focus our time on it. We split up guys and girls so we could share our testimonies with them and get personal with them as well. Lizzy, Michelle and I asked the girls two specific questions, “what do you think of yourself?” and “What does God think of you?”

It was amazing to see how fast these girls opened up and shared how they felt about themselves.

A lot of these girls didn’t think highly of themselves because of what others have said to them, or how they’ve been treated in the past. It was really amazing to walk through with them how God actually sees them. Their true identity in Christ!

It was such a joy to see so many students voluntarily spend their break time learning about God. It was inspirational to our team to see young people hungry for God!
