There’s something so confronting about this word. For the most part, it is the last thing the human spirit wants to do. If there’s anything the soul detests, it’s to follow someone else, to serve someone else. I think Jesus knew that. And he filtered out 95 percent of the population by using the most daunting advertising slogan of the century: “Follow me, and I’ll make you fishers of men.”
We’re naturally driven by the motivation of self-will. To surrender by choice, or to submit, is
foreign to the average human being.
Surrender. Servanthood. Submission. Sacrifice. Sacrifice by choice.
Wanting to do something sacrificially for someone we love, someone we’re attracted to, someone we’re especially grateful for; that’s the sacrifice we’re talking about. It’s a blast. And it’s motivated by love.
It’s why I’ve devoted my life to Jesus and his Great Commission. I invite you to take a 6 week journey with me and our YWAMers. Six weeks of grateful, intimate, heartfelt, inner-sacrificial love. To the One most deserving of our affection.
Our target for this year’s campaign is $175k in cash donations. We have already received $34,103 since our last appeal as well as from our golf fundraiser a few months ago! $140,897 to go!
