Trekking In East Timor – DTS Outreach

By YWAM Newcastle on May 7, 2013 in Discipleship Training Schools, Outreach

We sometimes walk two hours a day,

up and down hills, here in the interior of one of the newest nations on the planet. We walk sometimes praying to ourselves, sometimes surrounded by children singing songs, sometimes with teenagers practising their english. Two days ago Alex was even joined by a student from the school we are teaching at.

After getting through the niceties, as his english was quite good, he went into some sad news about how his mother had died the day before. Alex started to tell his story. How God took his heart and changed it. The boy listened intently as Alex shared some words from God and then asked if he wanted a change like that.

The boy accepted, prayed out to God for it

and then quickly excused himself saying “I need to go home now, I am about to cry”.

The village we live in is filled with young and old needing hearts changed. God wants to give them new hearts, soft hearts, nation changing hearts. The surrounding hills that we currently reside in only have three churches of 700 christians, but there could be more.

Please pray that we get more opportunities to share Christ’s life changing love.
