Encouragement from Creative DTS Leader

My Strength and My Song.
The Creative DTS is less than 8 weeks away, and God is moving in mighty ways in preparation for this school. This morning, when praying for the DTS, God drew me immediately to Isaiah 12. Here’s what it says in The Message version:

And you will say in that day,
“I thank you, God.
You were angry
but your anger wasn’t forever.
You withdrew your anger
and moved in and comforted me.
“Yes, indeed—God is my salvation.
I trust, I won’t be afraid.
God—yes God!—is my strength and song,
best of all, my salvation!”
Joyfully you’ll pull up buckets of water
from the wells of salvation.
And as you do it, you’ll say,
“Give thanks to God.
Call out his name.
Ask him anything!
Shout to the nations, tell them what he’s done,
spread the news of his great reputation!
“Sing praise-songs to God. He’s done it all!
Let the whole earth know what he’s done!
Raise the roof! Sing your hearts out, O Zion!
The Greatest lives among you: The Holy of Israel.”

Take a minute and actually imagine drawing from an endless well of Salvation. Of course each bucket will be filled with pure, life-giving water, but does that look the same every time? What does it taste like? God’s creativity is infinite and is seen in every bit of His work in our lives. As we call on His name, we will continuously have our minds blown by His character and the creative ways He continues to work in our lives.

There is something really powerful about speaking, or singing, things out loud. And according to verse 2, God doesn’t just give us songs. He IS our song, and He’s asking us to sing our hearts out. God values all kinds of creative expression so much that He’s declaring over us as a DTS and as His children that we WILL use our creativity to let the whole earth know what He’s done. What does that look like for you? How has God called YOU to shout to the nations, and what does that look like for you TODAY? My challenge to each of you is simply to find a way to creatively and boldly express what God has done in your life. DTS is still several weeks away but God is challenging us to sing out to Him right now.

I am so looking forward to seeing God massively challenge us in using our creativity for Him over the course of this school! Please join me in praying for His amazing and innovative purposes to be accomplished through the 2011 Creative DTS at YWAM Newcastle.

Until Later,
Emily Roberts
