A Word From the SOIYM Leader

By YWAM Newcastle on April 15, 2011 in Training, Youth Ministry

Well we are only 3 months out from the first ever School of Innovative Youth Ministry here at YWAM Newcastle! We are so excited to be embarking on this journey to dive into youth culture and find out how we can be more effective in reaching young people. As the leader of the school, I feel a personal challenge to try learning even more than the students do. I believe God is wanting to rise up a new wave of leaders that are willing to put in the hard yards to reach this generation. That is basically what this school is about – seeing people raised up who have a greater understanding of youth culture and can then take that knowledge and lead the youth of tomorrow.

Currently I see the biggest challenge in reaching youth is a lack of workers in the field. Though in saying that, I am so encouraged by Jesus’ words in Luke 10:2! There is a huge harvest out there and this school will be part of sending the workers out to reap it. So please be joining with us in asking God for the workers to come this July. Even ask God specifically if you are to be one of those workers. If so, we look forward to seeing you soon!!

“He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Luke 10:2
