A Look At Evangelism

By YWAM Newcastle on February 17, 2011 in Evangelism, Training

It’s probably not your favourite word to think about. It may make you feel uncomfortable or remind you of awkward interactions with people trying to “get” them to accept Jesus. Pressure.

But evangelism is not about pressuring people or “getting” them to the point of salvation. It’s about sharing God’s radical pursuit of his lost children in ways that they understand. Ways that may or may not include shouting on a street corner.

Evangelism isn’t easy, in our nature we desperately want to save face and not come across as pushy or “uncool”. So when Jesus commands us to GO into ALL the world to preach the gospel, it makes us face our comfort levels and what risks we are willing to take to make a difference.

God’s heart is broken, it is yearning for his lost sons and daughters to realize that they are loved and that they have purpose. When we understand this, the uncomfortable feelings that held us back fade away in comparison to the great love the Father is yearning to lavish on his lost children through us.

If you’ve completed a DTS in YWAM, we encourage you to take a look at the School of Evangelism as a next step in your partnering with God to fulfill the Great Commission. For more info, check out our SOE page here.
