Several hundred respond to Jesus – PNG Outreach Article

By YWAM Newcastle on August 5, 2014 in Discipleship Training Schools, Evangelism, Outreach

Since being in Papua New Guinea we have been working alongside Scripture Union in schools and youth events in the capital city of Port Moresby. Our ministry has included giving testimonies, sharing messages and performing songs and skits to many different age groups. The way people are open and willing for us to share is so encouraging.

At one secondary school we were able to minister to the whole school, the number of students edging on 1,500. It was many more then we had expected as the other schools we had visited only had about 30 students at the lunch time fellowships. We were quite nervous when we arrived and found out how many students were there, but we prayed as a team and the Holy Spirit worked through us despite our nervousness. We initiated an altar call and around a quarter of the students responded to Jesus and committed their life to him! It was amazing seeing the Holy Spirit at work.

Another door that God opened for us was at a Scripture Union training night. We came into contact with a man who has a show on a national radio Christian station. Through him we were able to be interviewed about YWAM and the work we do as well as give our testimonies live on air to approximately 300,000 listeners, potentially more! It was a great experience to be able to share what God has done in all of our lives and listeners were texting in with encouragements.
