Our last week in Raiatea was spent in much the same way as the first two; building relationship with the youth, prayer walking, worshipping and participating in the nightly church services. It was great to continue to build relationships and keep sowing into the church and community. We also focused on trying to disciple the youth so that they were more equipped when it came time for us to leave. It was particularly rewarding to see the youth pray for each other, for us and for healing. When it came to the end of the week we were all very sad to be leaving the amazingly, loving family that we had been adopted into.
On Saturday they held a big, farewell party for us, islander-style. It started at 4pm with songs and dances (including some of our own!) and progressed with lots of food and a slide show of our time there. Yesterday we had an early church service which ended with lots of tears, laughs and a Tahitian farewell tradition; we were all ‘crowned’ with leis made of strings of beautiful shells. Then after lunch the church got on a bus with us and took us to catch our boat. So after five hours on the boat, we arrived back in Tahiti!
We will now stay in Tahiti for the final three weeks of our outreach. This coming week our team will be involved in worship, intercession and prayer walking, as the Spirit leads us. There are also a few Bible studies and a kids program that we will be involved in. We are staying at our contact’s house with three members of the team that is pioneering YWAM Tahiti. We are really looking forward to getting to know them and their vision better and supporting them with prayer.
Please be praying that the community we left behind would continue to grow and dig deeper into God, and that in the coming weeks we stay motivated and focused so that we have a big impact in the spiritual realm! Thanks for your prayers and support.
