We’ve heard things like.. “That place is locked.” “You aren’t going to see any fruit.”
“People are closed to the Gospel. They’ve heard it so many times. It means nothing.”
It’s a good thing God doesn’t listen to the “realism” of humans. We’ve only been in London for a little over a week, but we have seen breakthrough! People are hungry and starving for Truth. Upon entering London I quickly felt the bondage of this metropolis. People pass as shadows in a place where the ridiculous of the world is the natural – their hearts are screaming to be heard. Inside everyone is a voice – a voice that yearns to be distinct.
After two weeks in Scotland, the strongholds here in London were so intense that I easily felt them upon myself. Scotland is a lot different than England in that Scotland is made up of only the people that live there – there isn’t massive diversity. So up in the Highlands my team of Australians, Canadians, and Americans stuck out big time. We were seen as different and a novelty. In London, we are nothing special to this world. There are heaps of Americans here, and Canadians, and even Australians.
Little do they know that we are crazy, and we are followers of Jesus. We stick out because we do not conform to this place. We stick out because we take the time to talk to a lonely drunk Irish man at a bus stop for 4 hours until 2:30am. We spend time with Jesus and we listen to His heart. We align our will with His and we believe for crazy, radical and complete change in His lost children. We clear our schedules to spend hours on the streets listening to people we don’t know, but caring for them unconditionally because we have the heart of Christ.
We have found that in London there is a harvest and the people are ripe for the picking. Everyday there is another soul that is dying for someone to listen to their voice. However, harvests only last a short amount of time. We must get out there now and speak to people about the love of God!
God has been talking to us about sharing His living water with London. We bought water bottles and Gospels of John and handed them out in the park a hot August day. We spoke to people that were not just physically thirsty, but also spiritually thirsty. God used our team in mighty ways and spoke through us. We were able to lead a guy to Christ, and praised God for what he was doing in the city.
People are thirsty. The harvest is ripe. Workers are few. Now is the time.
Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.” John 4:10
These were his instructions to them: “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields. Luke 10:2
