This week our base intercession time was led by John Dahdah. John is a Newcastle local, and he used to be a Youth Street crew before doing his DTS last year. When he asked God about what to pray for during intercession God led him to pray for ‘mothers’.
We got together, and the topic was fairly broad – mothers, spiritual mothers, mothers who have adopted, local mothers, our own mothers – pretty much the sky is the limit with this one.
As we got in our groups, God began speaking. Some main highlights were:
-Pray for healing and restoration for tough situations for mums
-Pray for single mums, young mums, career mums, foster mums
-Pray for the nurturing heart of mums to grow and be strengthened
-Praying for God’s partnership with mothers as they parent
-Pray for mums to be encouraged from God
-Pray for spiritual mothers
-Pray for refreshment (Psalm 1:3)
When I was praying I thought about the fact that no matter the circumstance, the relationship of a mother is one of the few relationships on earth that every single person has – everyone has or has had a mother. God has such a purpose in this role and relationship.
As we finished our time, we had our mothers on base stand in the middle, and we gathered around and prayed for them. We are really blessed by beautiful mothers on our base – Carrie, Julianne, Jan and Karen!
Our Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for mothers all around us! Thank you that the attributes we predominately see in mothers is a reflection of your heart, of your attributes, and when we need an example, we can ultimately see it in you and in our mothers. Thank you that you can heal and mend relationships, and we ask that you would continue to do that with mothers everywhere. Would you continue moving in their hearts and minds, refining and molding them more like you. Amen.
