Compassion DTS Vision | Be A Conqueror

Meaning of the word Compassion:
“Deep awareness for the suffering or misfortune of another, coupled with the desire to relieve it”.

A simple act of Compassion can transform lives and change the world!

Verse for the Compassion DTS 2012:
“So, chosen by God for this new life of Love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: Compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even- tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear Love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it” Colossians 3:12-14 (The Message).

I remember when I was a student on DTS, my outreach was in Brazil and I spend the first part in the jungle. After living on a boat and sleeping in a hammock for a while, we moved on to Sao Paulo, a huge city in the South of Brazil and had a well-deserved day off. We travelled to the city centre together as a team and my goal was to buy some gifts for my family at home. While walking the streets of Sao Paulo I noticed a cripple man sitting at the side of the street, begging for money. I noticed a lot of sufferings around me and in the end I just couldn’t walk any further, without doing something… That is Compassion right there; it’s so strong upon you, that you have the earnest heart desire to transform the situation!

I chose to staff the Compassion DTS 2011, because Compassion obviously is pretty big in my heart. I discovered that when you pour out your heart of Compassion, it reaches much further than the eye can reach, the effects are enormous! My Teams’ Outreach focus for this DTS was ‘human trafficking and prostitution’ in Europe. Looking back at our outreach my team had as many stories of pouring out their heart of Compassion over homeless people, mentally unstable people, old people, children, orphans and Christians, as we had on human trafficking and prostitution. If you are willing to pour out your heart of Compassion you will always reach a way bigger area than what your focus was going to be in the first place.

I believe God gave Colossians 3: 12-14 as a verse for this school, because He wants us to be aware! Aware in what we wear and even more so awareness that you are wearing these spiritual clothes! It’s there, don’t just look handsome in your spiritual outfit, but use it, because it releases the greatest strength and power there is!

My team was in Russia during Valentine’s Day and we decided to hand out letters with 1 Corinthians 13: 13 (Love Conquers All) written down on it in handmade envelopes! We’ve spread them everywhere we could; Starbucks, McDonalds, the Metro Station, the streets… It was such a great success that we decided to make it a main ministry in Russia and we handed out a few hundred letters over 3 weeks’ time. They say that it’s very rare to see a Russian smile in public places, like in the Metro or on the street. Because of this ministry we have seen hundreds of smiles, Incredible! We learned once more that love really conquers all!

If you have Compassion, for example to see someone get healed, but you’re not sure if you have the faith for it, than Love! Because Love Conquers All! Compassion comes from Love in the first place; faith is brought by Love and healing is possible through Love. 1 Crinthians 13: 13, …and the greatest of these is Love!

Again, a simple act of Compassion can transform lives and change the world!
Be a conqueror!!
