Hitting the Streets of London

By YWAM Newcastle on April 12, 2012 in Discipleship Training Schools, Outreach

This is the latest outreach update by the London team from our January Summer Classic DTS:

We arrived in London at 12:30am and were picked up by our hosts who drove us an hour across London to where we are staying in Romford in the Borough of Havering. The ministry that is mainly hosting us is called Emanuel and they run a small elementary and secondary school, as well as a network of home churches throughout the borough.

We are staying in the caretakers cottage on the Secondary school grounds. We were expecting to be sleeping in a church hall or something like it and were totally blessed to have our own small unit with bedrooms, living/bathroom and a kitchen. Our main contacts Peter and Sarah Taylor have such awesome hearts after God and we have really connected well with them.

The first day we had MegaCities orientation with Morag and Petra from YWAM Perth and they gave us all our resources and contact information. So we now have a list of contacts that we have been setting up and doing ministry with. We will be going into lots of schools as of next week when the Easter holidays finish up. We have also connected with a youth worker that goes to local skate parks twice a week and had an awesome time yesterday hanging with three young crew. We have also been reading out the Bible and prayer walking the neighbourhood a couple hours a day as part of how MegaCities get new teams to connect into their areas.
